That’s according to Ravi Manghani, a respected Boston-based electrical energy storage analyst at GTM Research.
He said “Each year will beat the previous year in terms of Lithium demand.”
Since Tesla first rolled out his electric roadster in 2008, the demand for Lithium has been on an exponential rise. Lithium-ion technology has begun popping up everywhere, a proliferation that will only accelerate.
“We are at an inflection point. Each year will beat the previous year,” said Ravi Manghani, a Boston-based storage analyst at GTM Research. “It’s definitely an ‘oh wow’ moment.”
Stanley Whittingham a Chemist working for Exxon helped pioneer the rechargeable lithium-ion technology in the 70’s. Back then the Oil giant believed Oil demand would peak and Lithium-ion.
It turns out that Exxon was right about the future of lithium-ion batteries—just not about how and when.
