Late last year BGC was one of the initial contractors to be awarded scope on the Albermarle Kemerton Lithium project. BGC has started earthworks construction in January 2019 which includes construction access requirements, the installation of site facilities as well as the associated underground services such as cabling and piping.
BGC has been working hard to finally venture into the Lithium market, and the Albermarle contracted will be headed by John Beattie as Project Director and Ryan Smyth as Project Manager. John said the contract win was an important strategy for the well-known mining company as “the demand for lithium and other specialty metals is growing worldwide and it is exciting for everyone at BGC Contracting that we are involved at this early stage.”
BGC has had a number of recent successful projects, including the most recent Roy Hill Package 3. The company’s management is very excited to enter the lithium space with a strong focus on delivering this initial contract on time and budget. “This is a great project for BGC Contracting and for the southwest. It gives us a chance to grow our reputation in the region whilst providing new job opportunities for up to 100 local residents,” said Project Director John Beattie.
