Altura Mining has hit a significant milestone, with the lithium developer loading its first shipment to China from Port Hedland.
The ship will be delivered to Lionergy, containing 5000 tonnes of lithium oxide with a grade of above 6 percent. Altura is already planning another shipment of lithium in late October.
The company has had a number of offtake enquiries from lithium producers in Asia for lithium produced by their flagship Pilgangoora mine.
James Brown, managing director of Altura said the company is focused on increasing production of the plants first stage to meet their nameplate target of 220 000 tonnes per annum.
A feasibility study has also been completed for the development of a second stage to double the plant’s output. The final investment decision is due later this year.
